ROAD 1

The first of the road routes starts in Skradin, crosses the bridge over the Krka River, and climbs on a winding road up to the plateau above the Skradinski Buk cascades. It passes through the villages of Skočići and Gulin, continuing towards Pakovo Selo, and then turns and descends into the canyon of the Čikola River, then once again through the Krka canyon, and across the Roški Slap waterfall. The return route to Skradin passes through Laškovica, Rupe, and Dubravica.

SKRADIN

Skradin is one of the three starting points for the cycling routes in Krka National Park. All of the routes are circular, starting and ending at the same point. This has been an important historical area since the time of the Liburians and the Romans, when the settlement of Scardona was developed here. Centuries later, the Croatian military and trade family Šubić Bribir would settle here.

ČIKOLA CANYON

The Čikola River is the largest tributary of the Krka River. It springs under the slopes of Mt. Svilaja, near the village Čavoglava, and drains into the Krka just above Skradinski Buk, so the lower section of the river lies within the boundaries of Krka National Park. The Čikola Canyon stands out for being exceptionally inaccessible and rugged, and the riverbed often dries out completely. This inaccessibility was often desirable in the past, and there are two caves in the area containing finds form the Palaeolithic age, and the Ključica fortress also stands here.

ROŠKI SLAP

Roški Slap with the Necklace of cascades is a gem hidden in the heart of the canyon. The largest number of cycling routes pass over this feature on the picturesque bridge, surrounded by series of cascades, backwaters and islets.

LAŠKOVICA

Laškovica is a small settlement situated above Roški Slap and is home to the new Krka National Park visitor centre. The centre has been designed as a starting point for active tours of the park, a place for rest, getting information, and planning routes through the park. Six cycling routes begin at Laškovica: mountain routes MTB-2, MTB-3, MTB-4, road route R-3 and trekking routes T-5 and T-6.
